The Valley Jr. High Athletic Conference (VAC JH AZ) is a proud non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enriching junior high athletics across the valley. Since the 1980s, we have partnered with public schools and their respective school districts to provide structured, competitive, and character-building athletic opportunities for student-athletes.
We are not a recreational league or a travel club league. Our teams are drawn from actual middle schools in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area and have since expanded to include Avondale, Goodyear, Buckeye, and Verrado. We welcome any schools that want to join our highly competitive conference.
Our conference is built on inclusion and opportunity, featuring two levels of competition to best serve our schools:
5A Conference for traditional middle schools that want to compete at the highest Jr High level
4A Conference for smaller schools with lower enrollment
Through regular season play and organized interscholastic tournaments, we strive to create an environment where young athletes can develop their skills, build teamwork, and experience the values of sportsmanship and perseverance while learning about school culture and pride.
Over the decades, “The VAC” has been a launching point for countless student-athletes. Many of our participants have gone on to excel at the high school level, earn collegiate athletic opportunities, and even reach the professional stage. While we celebrate those achievements, our greatest success lies in the positive impact we make on every student who competes in our programs.
At our core, the Valley Jr. High Athletic Conference is about more than competition—it’s about community, growth, and giving every student-athlete a chance to succeed both on and off the field.
Our Mission and Vision
The Valley Jr. High Athletic Conference is committed to providing equitable, competitive, and character-driven athletic opportunities for junior high student-athletes across the valley. As a non-profit organization serving public schools since the 1980s, we foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth through structured league play and tournaments within our 5A and 4A conferences. Our mission is to support schools of all sizes while helping students develop skills that prepare them for success in athletics, academics, and life.
Our vision is to be a leading junior high athletic conference that inspires excellence, inclusion, and lifelong impact. We strive to create a positive and competitive environment where every student-athlete has the opportunity to grow, compete, and succeed—both on and off the field. Through our programs, we aim to continue building a legacy of athletes who advance to high school, collegiate, and even professional levels, while strengthening the communities and schools we serve.
